Celebrating the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote
DOVER, Del. – In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage, people in Dover got the chance to dive a little deeper into history at the First State Heritage Park.
On Saturday, visitors got the chance to tour with historical interpreters to learn about the suffragist movement in Delaware.
We’re told areas like the Green was a critical space for many women who fought for their right to vote.
Event organizers say visitors got the chance to learn about women’s contribution’s to the state as well.
“Since this is the 100th anniversary it’s nice to take a step back and remember that people did fight very hard to get the rights that they have today and to respect them and to appreciate the fact that we have those rights,” said Laura Parks, a historical interpreter at the First State Heritage Park.
We are told there will be more opportunities to celebrate remarkable women in Delaware history at the First State Heritage Park throughout the month.
