Open For Business: Cafe on the Circle remains open amidst COVID-19 pandemic
GEORGETOWN, Del. – In the heart of Georgetown lies a mom and pop shop favorite where customers can order whatever their stomachs desire. But with Delaware restaurants already being limited to takeout and delivery options, and a stay-at-home order going into effect for all residents Tuesday morning, you’ve got some worried business owners.
“I understand why they did it, we all understand why they did it,” said Cafe on the Circle owner, Michael Oxbrough.
But Despite Governor John’s Carney’s recent announcement, Oxbrough wants people to know his restaurant will remain open to the public.
“We’ve got all curbside, a lot of phone ahead orders. I blocked off an area so that people can’t get into the back of the restaurant. We’ve moved the coffees back instead of self-service now, we’re serving everything for them.”
In a time where many families are in need and tight on cash this pandemic has also got Oxbrough thinking of new ways to give back.
“I’m going to start opening next week probably two hours from like 4:30 to 6:30 at night and start offering spaghetti and meatballs for a family of four for $25.”
And while the future still remains uncertain, Oxbrough says as long as he thinking of new ways to cater to the public, he’ll be ok.
“As a culinarian, we should be able to adapt and be able to do that and get through it,”
As of now, the Cafe on the Circle will be open Monday Through Fridays from 7 AM until 3 PM and Saturdays from 8 AM until noon. But we’re told those hours may change if need be.
