BOB bound! Cape girls basketball advances to state final four
LEWES, De- The 2-seeded Cape Henlopen girls basketball team punched a ticket to their first state final four since 2011, defeating #10 Tatnall 56-21 on Monday night’s state quarterfinal game.
Vikings senior forward Abbey Hearn finished with a game-high 24 points to lead Cape. Fellow senior Dania Cannon flirted with a triple double against the Hornets, pulling down 8 rebounds and dishing out 6 assists while finishing with 14 points. Sophomore Mekia Applewhite was the other Viking in double figures scoring, finishing with 10 points.
Cape moves to state semifinals for the first time in 9 years and will take on #3 Sanford at the Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware on Wednesday (3/11) at 6:30pm.
