Bennett completes season sweep of Decatur, move on to Regional Final
SALISBURY, Md. – Bennett held a slim-but-steady advantage most of the night, on their way to a 66-57 home win against Decatur in the 3A girls basketball playoffs.
Decatur grabbed the early lead, thanks to 7 first quarter points each from Nadia Bullock and Mayah Garner. The Seahawks carried the 4-point advantage into the second, but Bennett’s defense clamped down.
The Clippers held Bennett to 10 points in the second, as they took a 4-point lead to halftime.
Bennett went to the line seven times in the third, converting six shots, and increasing their advantage to six going to the fourth.
Decatur cut the lead to just two in the fourth, but Mekara Hanson was a steady leader down the stretch, converting 5-of-6 from the line.
Hanson led the way for Bennett with 23 points, Peanut Smullen added 21.
Bullock led Decatur with 23 points, Garner finished with 15.
Bennett advances to play Easton in the regional championship.
