Wicomico Habitat celebrates another groundbreaking

SALISBURY, Md. – Wicomico County Habitat for Humanity celebrated the groundbreaking of a new home in Salisbury on Wednesday.

The Habitat team, community leaders and even Mayor Jake Day joined the Jones family for the milestone. By the end of the summer, the Jones’ will own a new three bedroom home on Tangier Street. The new homeowner tells 47 ABC she’s looking forward to seeing the completed project, adding that Habitat has helped prepare her for the future.

“It means the world to me to be a first time homeowner. I’m very excited, me and my daughter,” says Delores Jones. “The program has helped me learn a lot about saving money and paying my credit cards on time.”

Habitat says the project would not be possible without an 88-thousand dollar Community Block Grant from the City of Salisbury.
