Police searching for suspect in Sharptown robbery

SHARPTOWN, Md. – Sheriff’s deputies are searching for a man they say robbed a woman at Gene Lowe Park in Sharptown last week.

We’re told the incident happened on February 5th at around 3:30 p.m. The victim told police that she was at the park playing with her son when an unknown male walked out of the woods at the back of the park and began walking towards her. He then reportedly told the victim to get on the ground, but she refused and began walking towards her car. The suspect then pushed her to the ground and took her purse from inside of her car. The victim’s son also reportedly tried to intervene, but was knocked to the ground. The suspect then fled back into the wooded area behind the park.

The suspect was described as a tall and thin male, possibly in his 20s or 30s, with brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. He was wearing a partial black mask that covered his face from the nose down, as well as a black sweatshirt, blue jeans, and may have had on red fabric gloves.
