Pocomoke holds on in final seconds for the big road win over Parkside
SALISBURY, Md.- After a huge 15 point second half comeback by Parkside, Pocomoke held on in the final seconds to beat Parkside 79-76. With the win, Pocomoek improves to 16-4 on the year while the loss drops the Rams to 7-12.
After leading by 15 in the final seconds of the first half, the Pocomoke Warriors slowed down on offense allowing the Rams to take control. Outscoring the Warriors 24-10 in the third quarter, Parkside came all the way back to tie the game at 52 headed to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Warriors were able to pull away a little and lead by ten with just over three minutes to play in regulation. Two huge dunks from Nigel Houston and a few short jumpers from D’aron Jones and Charles Finney gave Pocomoke most of the momentum prompting a Parkside timeout. After the stoppage, Marcus Yarns came alive for Parkside. Sixteen fourth quarter points for the senior and just like that Parkside was within three points of the Warriors. After a botched inbounds pass by Pocomoke, the Rams had one last chance to tie the game and they turned to their guy with the hot hand. An open look for Yarns but the shot fell just short as Pocomoke holds on for the 79-76 win over Parkside.
