Nearly 100 teens given free prom dresses at Promise Project event
SALISBURY, Md. – Nearly 100 girls stepped out of Parkside High School on Saturday with prom dresses and more to help them get ready for their big night.
The nonprofit Promise Project organized this free prom dresses giveaway.
The annual event offers hundreds of dresses for high school girls all across Delmarva.
Volunteers say many of these dresses were donated from places like Downtown Bridal in Salisbury as well as Scher’s Bridal Shop in Pocomoke.
These girls also walked away with free jewelry, shoes and more.
According to the event organizer, Betsy Bishop, the giveaway makes a huge impact on the community.
“We all have something to give back and this is a community-wide event,” said Bishop.
“We have the university is helping out, Wicomico County Board of Education,” said Bishop, “We have volunteers and it’s just a great feel-good day for everybody, not only for the girls but for the volunteers as well.”
Bishop says the girls also got the chance to sign up for a free makeover on the day of their prom night.
