Milton Council candidates address issues at forum

MILTON, Del. – In just a few days, Milton residents will cast their ballots for two of four candidates to sit on the town’s council.

Before the election, the town’s Chamber of Commerce held a forum on Saturday for residents to bring some of their concerns before those candidates.

The event took place at the Milton Public Library.

Candidates on the ballot are incumbents Emory West and Rich Baty and Milton residents Randi Meredith and John Klein.

Issues brought before the candidates included flooding and drainage issues.

Residents also wanted to know if candidates planned on working to bring the Milton Theatre’s Zombie Fest back to the town.

The Zombie Fest moved to Dewey Beach last year after disputes between theater officials and the town.

But residents say the event made a huge economic impact on the community.

“It was a really fun town event and it was also bringing people from outside of town to our businesses, so I do think it’s an important event,” said MJ Ostinato, a Milton resident.

The election is scheduled for next Saturday, March 7th at the town hall where people can vote from 8 AM to 6 PM.
