Keep Worcester Clean Campaign
WORCESTER Co., Md. — The Worcester County government is taking on a new campaign in an effort to keep the county clean.
Officials say their overall goal is to beautify the area by keeping recycling stations clean and litter free.
They say not only is littering a hazard to the environment, but it could also negatively effect the economy and personal health.
Officials with the town of Berlin are taking this campaign one step further with their cigarette butt recycling stations..
Something they say will be a big step in keeping the town and county clean.
“We really do care about our environment, we care about what happens to Berlin, we were voted one of the cleanest small towns and we were for a reason,” says Ivy Wells, Berlin Economic and Community Development Director.
On top of keeping the town clean– all of the cigarette butts recycled in the bins will be used to make things like benches and chairs for the community.
