Hawks split doubleheader against Bethune Cookman

PRINCESS ANNE, Md- The Maryland Eastern Shore basketball program earned a split of a conference doubleheader on Saturday, with the women’s team falling 62-53 to Bethune Cookman, while the men’s team scored a 66-58 upset in the following game.

Women’s: BCU’s Amaya Scott scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half and pulled down 10 rebounds as the Wildcats overcame a 32-29 halftime deficit to get the victory 62-53. Brooklyn Bailey and Adrienne Jones led UMES with 13 points each.

Men’s: The Hawks jumped out to an 18-0 lead and avoided a late scare, scoring the 66-58 upset over the Wildcats. AJ Cheeseman finished tied with a game-high 17 points, with teammate Walter Prevost coming off the bench to provide a huge 10 points. Senior guard Ahmad Frost also netted 15 for the Hawks. Isaiah Bailey led BCU with 17 points.
