Frankford Police Department introduces new program for kids
FRANKFORD, Del. – Families in the community came together Saturday morning for a new monthly event hosted by town’s police department.
The event took place at the town hall.
Kids and their families got the chance to sit down with the police chief as well as leaders in the community.
They also got the chance to enjoy some delicious pizza and cupcakes.
We are told this initiative is part of the chief’s efforts to bring more community engagement to the town.
The chief says it is also a way to bring more awareness about the police department where he is currently the only police officer.
“We’ve been shut down for over two years and we have to, these programs, are vital to us getting the word out that there’s a police department here and there are people that want to serve you,” said Frankford Police Chief Laurence Corrigan.
The Frankford police chief says he hopes to invite more speakers to his monthly gatherings to help inspire more kids in the community.
He also says he hopes to have a second or third officer within the coming months.
