For the Culture Business Expo returns for second year
PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – In Somerset County, black-owned businesses from across the Eastern Shore found new opportunities for growth at the second annual For the Culture Business Expo.
The event took place at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Organizers tell us there is a lack of available resources for black entrepreneurs and business owners, which is why they have created this annual networking event for the community.
They say the event also helps build a more supportive culture for black-owned businesses.
“Our business community in the area,” said Amber Green, the event organizer.
“We have the chamber of commerce, we have young professionals groups, but the reality is, not all black business owners or people of color business owners feel included into those environments, so this is an opportunity for us to create our own space for the culture,” said Green.
Green says the event was put on to celebrate Black History Month as well.
We’re told the event was made possible with the help of the UMES NAACP group.
