Felton man arrested on drug, weapons charges
FELTON, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Felton man over the weekend after finding drugs and a weapon during a traffic stop.
At around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, members of the Governor’s Task Force saw a Kia Sedona stopped in the left turn lane on Dupont Highway with a loud muffler. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with the driver and sole occupant, 44-year-old Ronald Johnson Jr.
Police detected an odor of marijuana and subsequently searched the vehicle, finding approximately 307.99 grams of marijuana, a loaded revolver with 6 rounds, more than $500 in suspected drug money, and drug paraphernalia.
Johnson was charged with possession of a firearm/destructive weapon if previously convicted of a violent felony, possession or control of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited prior violent crime or felony, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited who also possesses controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 1 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended or revoked, failure to have insurance identification in possession, and improper muffler.
He was held at SCI on $55,750 secured bond.
