Father facing charges in son’s death

MIDDLETOWN, Del. – A Middletown man is now facing murder charges after police say he shot and killed his own son back in October.

55-year-old Derrick Rhamad turned himself in to police on Friday. Police say on October 23rd, 2019, Rhamad and his 20-year-old son, Damaris Farmer-Rhamad, got into a fight.

At some point during that fight, the elder Rhamad’s gun discharged, striking the 20-year-old, who died of his injuries the following day.

The elder Rhamad is now facing charges including second degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
