Dover man found in possession of drugs, firearm during traffic stop
DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Dover man early Tuesday morning after he was found in possession of drugs and a firearm during a traffic stop.
Police say shortly after midnight, a traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle that was seen driving below the posted speed limit and impeding the flow of traffic. When contact was made with the driver, 20-year-old Amir McMorris, an odor of marijuana was detected, leading to a search of the vehicle.
Approximately 10.67 grams of marijuana and approximately 30 mg of Amphetamine were found in McMorris’s possession. Inside the vehicle, troopers found a loaded handgun as well as drug paraphernalia. A computer check revealed that McMorris is prohibited from possessing firearms.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to have insurance identification, driving at slow speed as to impede flow, and failure to have license in possession.
He was held at SCI on $9,603 secured bond.
