City seeks artists to submit design proposals for bike racks

CRISFIELD, Md. – Calling all Maryland artists, the Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District Project Board is looking for people to help design bike racks to help beautify the city.

The board is asking for different designs of artistic bike racks that would be placed in different spots around the city.

According to the Arts and Entertainment District’s Coordinator Jennifer Merritt, there are many bicyclists in the area and not enough bike racks.

According to Merritt, the new hiking and biking trail that is under construction is also expected to attract more bicyclists to the area.

“Crisfield is a great place to travel around on a bicycle,” said Merritt.

“It’s beautiful, it’s flat, but as far as I know, there are only a couple of bike racks in town at the library, so there’s nowhere really for people to secure their bicycles right now,” said Merritt.

The deadline for design proposals is April 2 and all applicants must be Maryland residents.
