Church hosts fundraiser for Puerto Rico earthquake victims

GEORGETOWN, Del. – In Sussex County, the Georgetown Presbyterian Church teamed up with community members to help raise money for Puerto Rico earthquake victims.

On Saturday, the church hosted a fundraiser to buy canned foods, clothes water and medicine for families in need on the island.

People at the event called Yo Soy Puerto Rico got the chance to enjoy delicious food.

The event also included raffles and a bouncing house.

Event organizers tell us many Puerto Ricans are living on the streets following several earthquakes. So, they say events like this one are critical in order to give back.

“People are still living in tarps, they’re still living on the streets or on the stadium or places like that, so those are the people that we’re reaching,” said event organizer, Carlos Fernandez.
