Cambridge PD receives $10,000 to get new K-9
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – On Thursday, a charity donated $10,000 to The Cambridge Police Department to be able to get a new K-9. Crescent Cities Charities, an organization based in Prince George’s County, made it all happen. This donation comes after the police department’s K-9, named Dani, unexpectedly passed away earlier this month. But the department couldn’t afford to buy and train a new dog. Officials say this donation will help get the program back up and running, and overall make Cambridge a safer place.
“We get a lot of requests on a monthly basis and this just jumped to the top because we thought this was so important for the community for public safety,” said Crescent Cities Charities Vice President, Steve Novak.
“Our budget was not able to fund a dog right away so crescent cities did a great job for us and stepping up and getting this program back up and running for us,” said Chief of Police for the Cambridge Police Department, Mark Lewis.
The department says they’re thankful to Crescent Cities Charities, and the community, for being so supportive of their fundraising efforts. Officials add that the K-9 is expected to arrive in the states within the next two to three weeks.
