Bennett girls pull away late for the big win over Decatur
SALISBURY, Md.- After taking a four point lead at the half, the Bennett Lady Clippers pulled away in the second half for the 62-43 win over Stephen Decatur. With the win, the Clippers move to 13-2 on the year, the loss drops the Seahawks to 14-5.
It was a close one early, Bennett leading 19-17 midway through the second quarter. The Clippers went on a quick 6-0 run prompting a Decatur time out with 3:37 until the half. Out of the timeout , the Seahawks wet on a run of their own to cut the lead to four, 28-24 at the half. Peanut Smullen led the Clippers with 12 points at the break, the Seahawks were led by Nadia Bullock and Jess Janey who had 7 points each.
In the second half, the game stayed close for most of the third quarter, a seven point differential with under two minutes to play in the third. In the fourth quarter, Bennett was able to pull away and get the 19 point, 62-43 win over Decatur.
