Approved plan for new Seaford park

SEAFORD, Del. — The city of Seaford has big plans on the horizon as city council members approved a new park that will help with the revitalization in the area.

47ABC was told the new park will be at the site of the old J.B Robinson Oyster House located along the Seaford River Walk.

Under the master plan, there will be new walking trails, an oyster house, a kayak and canoe launching site, and an amphitheater will be added.

The push to have this done has been in the works for some time now, and now that it has finally been approved the Mayor told us he’s excited to get the parts moving.

“So, next starts the permitting processes and so we’ll start on the river part first, so we can have something visible for the public to see,” David Genshaw, Mayor of Seaford, said. “There’s also a sewer line that runs through the middle of the property which isn’t quite sexy or glamorous, but that has to be moved and it’s very expensive.”

Mayor Genshaw said that the park will hopefully be finished in three to five years.
