Two arrested on drug charges in Laurel

LAUREL, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested two people Wednesday night after drugs were found during an investigation.

Shortly after 10 p.m., a trooper made contact with the occupants of a vehicle parked in the rear parking lot of the Laurel Royal Farms after noticing it had been parked there for an extended period of time. When the trooper approached the vehicle, both occupants were asleep, and the male driver was observed exposing himself. The trooper then awoke both occupants, identified as 36-year-old Stewart Timmons and 33-year-old Candace Comegys, both of Harrington.

Further investigation revealed that Timmons was under the influence of a combination of drugs, and was not able to operate a vehicle safely. Timmons was found in possession of two suboxone strips and a lorazepam pill, while a search of the vehicle also yielded approximately 12.5 grams of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Timmons was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity, conspiracy second degree, two counts of possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, second degree indecent exposure, and driving a vehicle under the influence of drugs. When Timmons arrived at SCI, he was found concealing approximately 1.46 grams of methamphetamine and 1.48 grams of marijuana. He was subsequently charged with promoting prison contraband and tampering with physical evidence, and was held on a $3,500 secured bond.

Comegys was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity, conspiracy second degree, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on her own recognizance.
