Traffic stop leads to drug charges for one in Delmar

DELMAR, Md. – Police say a man was arrested on drug charges following a traffic stop in Delmar earlier this week.

Deputies with the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle in the area of E. Walnut Street and S. Fourth Street on Wednesday. Police say the driver, 32-year-old Tyrell Joyce, drove erratically before being stopped in an attempt to avoid law enforcement detection.

A K-9 scan of the vehicle was conducted, yielding a positive alert. Further investigation resulted in the recovery of numerous cell phones, a large amount of cash indicative of drug distribution, and a baggie of 29 capsules containing a heroin/fentanyl mix. It was also learned that Joyce discarded the contraband while trying to avoid law enforcement.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with the intent to distribute narcotic, and possession with the intent to distribute heroin/fentanyl mix. He was held without bond.
