String of church burglaries in Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating church burglaries in Sussex County that happened within the past few days.

Police said Carey’s United Methodist Church on 22053 Careys Camp Road, Millsboro, Saint Johns AME Church on East Trap Pond Road, Laurel, and Trinity Church on Phillips Hill Road, Millsboro are the three known churches that were broken into.

Officials told the community to lock all outside doors, use curtains on windows, leave on a light, change locks immediately if keys are lost, and consider installing a security system.

If you think you have been robbed, you should call 9-1-1, not enter the building, write down any suspicious cars or person(s), and do not touch anything until police have completed an investigation.
