Protesters gather for fourth annual Women’s March
OCEAN CITY, Md. – Men and women from across the shore joined hundreds of other protests nationwide in the fourth annual Women’s March.
At Ocean City’s boardwalk people celebrated the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in the United States.
They also spoke on immigrant rights, women’s rights as well as what they hope to see for this year’s presidential election and organizers say they hope these sort of events will make a lasting impact on younger generations.
“I mean there are a lot of women here who lived through the movement in the 60s,” said Linda Linzey, the event co-chair.
“Someone just showed me a necklace that she bought when she was marching for the ERA back in the 60s, and so, some of us have been doing this for generations and we want to ignite this power and this interest in the younger generations so that we can pass on our light to them,” said Linzey.
We are told organizations like Moms Demand Action also joined the march on Saturday to help raise awareness about things like gun violence and more.
