Pocomoke gets big win over Parkside, moves to second in Bayside South

POCOMOKE, Md.- Welcoming in a Parkside squad on a three game win streak, including a home win over Crisfield, the Pocomoke Warriors got their third win in a row with the 80-69 win over the Rams. With the win, the Warriors move to 9-2 on the year, the loss drops Parkside to 5-6.

It was a celebration of Pocomoke Head Coach Derrick Fooks’ 300th career win before the game.

The Pocomoke players came out like they were ready for win number 301. After being tied with Parkside 7-7, the Warriors pulled away for a six point lead to end the first quarter. Johari Eni led Pocomoke in the first with nine points and a few assists to get the Warriors out to a hot start. In the second quarter, the Warriors exploded on offense. 21 points in the quarter behind 10 points from Charles Finney, and four each from D’aron Jones and Nigel Houston for the 41-25 lead at the break. Finney led the Warriors with 15 points and the Rams were led by Rashir Evans and Jarrin Mitchell who had 7 points each.

In the second half, the Rams would climb back into the game. Marcus Yarns and Rashir Evans each dropped 16 points in the second half to bring the Rams within three midway through the fourth quarter. After a Pocomoke time out, the Warriors began to pull away again. Nigel Houston with 15 second half points along with eight from Charles Finney in the fourth propelled the Warriors to the 80-69 home win.

The Warriors return to action Thursday when they host Snow Hill, the Rams look to get back in the win column when they travel to Berlin to take on Decatur.
