Phase 1 construction in the works for new charter school

SEAFORD, Del.- After two years of fine tuning the details, the Sussex Montessori School announced that work is beginning on Phase 1 of construction of a new public charter school.

With the expectation already of 250 students to attend, the free public Montessori School has started their final testing work.

The school saw the historic structure that was an old farm complex as the ideal place to have the school.

The property had to be first annexed into the city, but now that Phase 1 of construction will be starting, leaders working on the construction told us that they are excited to break ground on this prime location.

“We think this is ideal the setting for this location, it’s just wonderful, that was the goal was to try and find something that had kind of an agriculture environmental background to it and feel to it and we think this is just wonderful,” Mark Chura, Chief Operating Officer, said. “It’s a historic structure as wel,l this is an old farm complex it fits really well with the Montessori method.”

Officials told us that there will be a ground breaking ceremony soon in February for the Phase 1 of their construction project.

They will be set to finish the construction before the school opens sometime after Labor Day in 2020.
