Local non-profit partners with ‘Amazon Smile’ to collect donations

GEORGETOWN, Del. – A nonprofit organization in Georgetown that helps the homeless is looking for help from the community, and all you have to do is order off of Amazon. The Shepherd’s Office founder, Jim Martin, tells 47 ABC the non-profit is now registered with amazon smile. Martins says 0.5% of your total sale when you shop through this link will be donated to the Shepherd’s Office. Martin adds that as the homeless population in Sussex County continues to grow, he’s going to need more help in providing services to the community. And with this money, he’ll be able to add more employed staff to his roster to help those who need it most.

“We have one staff person, and that’s a big step for us to have employed staff people so we have to make sure we’re prepared. Just for the cup of coffee, we’re serving 400 cups of coffee every week now. So that can give you an idea of how many meals we’re serving, how many people are dropping in,” said Martin.
