Laurel gets statement win, hands Seaford their first loss of the season
LAUREL, Del.- Entreing the game on a six game win streak, the Laurel Bulldogs defeated Seaford 74-54, handing the Blue Jays their first loss of the season. With the win, Laurel moves to 9-2 while the loss drops Seaford to 8-1.
Seaford looked like they were going to run away with it early. The Blue Jays jumped out to an early nine point lead forcing turnover after turnover to . After a Laurel time out, the Bulldogs woke up. Behind thirteen first half points by Javier White, L-Town stormed back to cut the deficit to just one after the first quarter and took the nine point lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Bulldogs kept their foot on the gas. Corey Mumford (14 second half points) and Nifere Griffin (7 second half points) carried the Bulldogs under the basket grabbing every rebound that came their way. The Bulldogs scored 48 second half points to get the 20 point win 74-54 over Seaford.
Laurel returns to action next Tuesday at 5:45 when they host Henlopen South foe Woodbridge. The Blue Jays will look to get back in the win column when they travel to take on First State Military Academy.
