Kent Island stands atop the Bayside North with statement win over QA

STEVENSVILLE, Md.- Down one point with just ten seconds to play, a game winning shot from Andy Van Wie gave the Bucs the 47-46 lead and the win over Queen Anne’s. With the win, the Buccaneers improve to 7-2 on the year while the loss drops Queen Annes to 8-3. Kent Island is currently number one in the Bayside North.

The Buccaneers looked to be in control in the first half, doing whatever they wanted offensively and shutting down the QA perimeter shots. KI took the 26-16 lead into the half.

In the second half, the Lions finally woke up on offense. They cut the lead to just one midway through the third quarter off of a Devrin Turner lay up. Headed into the fourth quarter, the Bucs were up just two, the Lions seemed to have all of the momentum. With 3:30 to play in the game, Queen Annes took their first lead 44-43 and the score stayed that way until less than two minuets to play. The Lions extended the lead to three until two Ben Cox free throws cut it to one with forty seconds to play. With fifteen seconds to play, the Bucs got the ball back and looked to retake the lead. A Toby Skeans pass inside to Andy Van Wie led to a short Van Wie jumper to give KI the one point lead with nine seconds left in regulation. With one last chance to win the game, a three point attempt fell just short for Queen Anne’s as Kent Island takes sole possession of the Bayside North with the 47-46 win over QA.
