House fire in St. Michaels ruled accidental
ST. MICHAELS, Md. – Fire officials say a fire that heavily damaged a St. Michaels home on Thursday was accidental.
At around 12:30 p.m., the St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze at 7848 Folly’s Cove Road. The fire was placed under control within 15 minutes.
We’re told that before the fire broke out, workers were completing interior renovations inside the residence and were using a salamander style heater to provide heat inside the garage. Further investigation revealed that the cause of the fire was a result of the heater igniting combustible materials that were near the heater.
Fire damage has been estimated at $150,000. No injuries were reported.
