Hocker proposes gun control come back to the state

DOVER, Del. – One lawmaker is working hard to bring some gun control back into the state of Delaware.

Senator Gerald Hocker, who is also a gun retailer, proposed legislation that would bring some security checks for gun ownership back into the state.

Currently, some of the process is handled by the federal government, which Senator Hocker says is not as efficient or safe as it could be if the state handled the process.

“Me, as a gun dealer, I saw states reject an applicant where the feds had approved them, and we go back and ask why, they should’ve been rejected, they should not be gun owners,” Senator Hocker said.

Senator Hocker says there are certain instances where states will know about a person’s record or history before the federal government.
