Hawks men jump to big lead, falter in second half

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The UMES men’s basketball team dropped their 19th, and maybe hardest, game of the season to Morgan State University Monday night, 56-50.

Da’Shawn Philip was the driving force behind a furious offensive attack for UMES early. The Hawks raced to a 16-2 lead in the early minutes.

It was a tale of two halves, as the Bears shot just 4-for-30 from the field in the first half, but shot 50-percent in the second half.

Philip led the Hawks with 14 points. UMES falls to 2-19 on the season, and 1-5 in conference play.
