Get ready for an “Out of this World” experience at the 3rd Annual Fire & Ice Festival

BETHANY BEACH, Del. — Are you ready for an out of this world experience. Well, the upcoming Fire & Ice Festival might just be the place for you.

47 ABC’s Deana Harley was joined by Lauren Weaver and Katina Dawson, both from the Bethany Beach Chamber of Commerce to talk about the event.

Weaver, who’s the executive director, tells us the festival is in it’s third year and they are happy to bring 28 tons of ice to the Quiet Resorts area once again.

Dawson, who’s the event coordinator, adds that the festival has expanded into the towns of Oceanview and Millville to quote ” really step it [the festival] up.”

Both women say that this year’s festival will have an “out of this world” theme. What does this means for festival-goers? You can expect rocket ships, aliens, shooting stars, galaxies, and more of the like, built by ice sculptors, Ice Lab. NASA Wallops Island will also be at the event to add on to the experience. Weaver and Dawson tell us that each town will have over 30 activities going on from 10 AM to 8 PM. So plan accordingly because this could be an all day event.

According to Weaver and Dawson, the festival has grown every year. They say accommodations in local areas are all sold out the weekend of the event. Yes, that many people are coming to the area to see a 300 pound block of ice be turned into a beautiful sculpture.

The festival is from January 24th to the 26th, from 10 AM to 8 PM on Friday, 9 AM to 11 PM on Saturday, and 11 AM and 2 PM on Sunday.

So come out and enjoy the “out of this World” expo at the Quiet Resorts. The event is free for all ages. For more information about the festival, you can visit their website at
