Fundraiser to benefit Meals on Wheels program
FRANKFORD, Del. – People in the community got together on Sunday to support seniors in Sussex County as part of the annual Salted Vines Fourth Annual Crock Off.
The event is a chance for people to taste and vote on their favorite chili complimented by some delicious wine.
They also got the chance to enjoy some live music and much more.
Organizers say all the proceeds collected will go towards the CHEER Meals on Wheels program, which provides hundreds of meals a day for the elderly community.
“Some have physical disabilities that limit them from being able to prepare food, so proceeds from events like this help CHEER to provide more meals to these seniors,” said Carmel Rickenbach, nutrition program director for the organization.
“Realistically, for some of these seniors, it may be their only meal for the whole day,” said Rickenbach.
