Felton man arrested following road rage incident

SMYRNA, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested a Felton man Tuesday morning after he reportedly pulled out a gun during a road rage incident.

According to police, troopers made contact with a 25-year-old female victim at around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a road rage incident that happened on DuPont Highway in the area of Garrison Lake. It was learned that while the victim was driving southbound in the left lane, a black Ford Escape tried to move over into her lane, however due to traffic the victim could not move out of this vehicle’s way. The driver of the Escape then reportedly gave the victim the middle finger before pulling out what appeared to be a handgun in his left hand, pointing it at the victim.

The victim then made a left turn in the center median to go in the opposite direction. No one was injured.

Further investigation led police to identify the driver of the Escape as 22-year-old William Draper Jr. Police made contact with Draper in the parking lot of Royal Farms in Cheswold, and found a semi-automatic handgun on the dashboard of his vehicle.

Draper was arrested and charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and aggravated menacing. He was later released on $6,000 unsecured bond.
