Dover man arrested for stealing a motorcycle

DOVER. Del. — Dover Police say they’ve arrested the man in connection to a stolen motorcycle incident that took place on Monday.

Just after 12:50 a.m., police say they responded to the report of a stolen motorcycle at 1568 North DuPont Highway.

A 19-year-old victim told police he had his black Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle in the parking lot and when he went to check on the motorcycle, he discovered it was missing.

Authorities say City of Dover employees contacted the police department to report that they found the stolen motorcycle hiding behind a sub-station on Rustic Lane, near the hotel where it was stolen.

Officers confirmed that the motorcycle belonged to the victim and returned it, with the suspect still on the loose.

A short time later, police say the City of Dover employees called back to report that Fred Williamson of Dover, had contacted them and asked where “his motorcycle” was.

Officers responded and contacted the 25-year-old in the area of the Capital Inn and took him into custody after further investigation revealed that he had stolen the motorcycle.

Williamson was committed to SCI on $4,000 secured bond on theft by false pretense, theft of a motor vehicle, and criminal impersonation charges.
