Dolle’s Candyland opening downtown Berlin location

BERLIN, Md. – Town officials are sharing some exciting news about downtown development: Dolle’s Candyland is set to open up shop.

We’re told there’s always a rush in January, after the holidays, for local businesses to come and go. Dolle’s store will go into one of the units in the old PNC Bank building on Main Street. The building is currently being renovated to look like an old fashioned candy store so that it fits into the historic downtown feel. Dolle’s is set to open in April and officials are excited that the candymaker, which has been around for more than a century, is setting up shop in America’s Coolest Small Town.

“Dolle’s is what I like to call a destination. So people are coming here just to go to Dolle’s which is amazing because a lot of our businesses they don’t have that kind of following so they can piggy back on the following that Dolle’s has,” says Ivy Wells with Berlin’s Economic and Community Development.

Some other changes happening downtown include a new mixed space on Gay Street serving as a second location for DeNovo’s Italian Restaurant. A building behind Fins was also demolished and that will turn into a retail spot with apartments upstairs.
