Chamber of Commerce holds fundraising event for hospitalized kids
BETHANY BEACH, Del. – People from across Sussex County put their taste buds to the test on Sunday at the Out of this World Drink Competition and it was all for a good cause.
The event took place at the Bethany Blues restaurant.
People got the chance to try out different drinks created by local bartenders.
Organizers say all proceeds collected at the event will go towards the Nemours duPont Pediatrics and Senior Care in Sussex County, which focuses on providing medical care for children and seniors in need as well as support for their families.
Organizers say the event is also a chance to bring more foot traffic to the resort town.
“Events like this not only does it fulfill the chamber’s mission of supporting our business community and bringing people here during the off-season, but we also partner with amazing nonprofits in the area to show our support as they’re providing much needed services to Sussex County,” said Lauren Weaver, executive director for the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce.
Organizers say events like this are also critical to help local businesses to stay afloat during the off-season.
