Cambridge pulls away late for the big time win over Easton

EASTON, Md.- After tying at the end of each of the first three quarters, the Cambridge South-Dorchester Vikings defeated Easton 55-46. With the win, the Vikings improve to 8-5 on the year while the loss drops Easton to 6-7.

It was back and forth all first half, teams going blow for blow. Neither team led by more than three in the first half. In the final seconds of the first quarter, Easton’s Makhi Taylor threw up a buzzer beater and drained it to tie the game up at 13. The second quarter, it looked like the Warriors were going to run away with it. They jumped out on a 9-0 run in the first four minutes to take a 22-13 lead. After a CSD time out, the Vikings woke up and went on a 9 point run themselves capped off by a Vejon Ashley lay up in the final four seconds to tie it up at 22 headed to half.

The third quarter was much of the same story. The Vikings took a 38-35 lead to end the third and in they fourth quarter, they wouldn’t trail. They led by two with four minutes to play and then went on a run to lead by eight and eventually pulled away for the 55-46 win.

The Vikings return to action next Thursday when they host cross county rival North Dorchester. The Warriors look to get back in the win column when they travel to Hurlock to take on North Dorchester next Tuesday.
