Allen Mitchell sentenced for sex abuse of a minor

SALISBURY, Md. – A former James M. Bennett High School guidance counselor was sentenced in a Wicomico County courtroom Thursday morning.

33-year-old Allen Mitchell was sentenced to a total of 41 years with all but 20 years suspended. He will also be required to register as a Tier III sex offender, and will be on supervised probation for five years following his release. During his probation, he will be prohibited from contact with the victims and their families, as well as unsupervised contact with minors.

Back in October, Mitchell pleaded guilty to sex abuse of a minor and child pornography.
