Allen drops 40 as Dover takes sole possession of the Henlopen North

DOVER, Del.- Behind a career high forty points for Elijah Allen, the Dover Senators defeated Caesar Rodney 93-72. With the win, the Senators move to 8-1 on the season and the loss drops CR to 5-2.

The Riders came out firing, putting up an early 7-2 lead midway through the first quarter. After a Dover time out, the Senators came alive. Dover took the lead on a 6-0 run to go up 8-7 and behind eleven in the first quarter from Elijah Allen Dover took the 19-15 lead to end the quarter. To start the second quarter, the Riders went on a run of their own. Just two minutes into the quarter, CR was riding a 9-2 run to take the 24-21 lead behind Syed Myles who had sixteen in the first half. After a Dover time out, the Senators caught fire. Ending the half on a 21-8 run, Dover took the 43-32 lead at the break. 13 of those 21 points came from Elijah Allen, who had a half high 24 points. Myles led the Riders at half with 16.

In the second half, the Senators exploded on offense for 50 points. Allen added 16 to his game total for a career high 40 points, Wanya Wise scored 14 to total 20 points and Jy’Heim Spencer dropped 10 of his 14 game points. On defense, Dover suffocated the Riders. Forcing turnover after turnover to hold them to just 40 in the second half The Senators came away with the statement 93-72 win over Caesar Rodney to take sole possession of the Henlopen North.

The Senators return to action when they host Polytech next Tuesday at 7. The Riders look to get back in the win column when they host Milford Friday at 6:15.
