DNREC asking for public feedback on agreement with Mountaire Farms
DOVER, Del. – Starting tomorrow, February 1st, DNREC will be accepting written public comments on the proposed consent degree between DNREC and Mountaire Farms regarding violations at Mountaire’s Millsboro poultry processing facility.
On December 19th, DNREC entered into an agreement and proposed consent degree with Mountaire Farms of Delaware, Inc., to resolve spray irrigation and lang application permit violatations cited by DNREC in a Notice of Violation on November 2, 2017.
Tomorrow, DNREC will publish a notice of lodging of the Agreement and degree in the Delaware Register of Regulations, asking for public written comments. In the agreement, Mountaire officials must make necessary upgrades to their water plant, including relocating the productions wells within the spray fields to establish a pump and treat system.
The company would also be required to offer residents another option to get water to their homes.
