Two arrested for drug distribution, one still wanted
LAUREL, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested two people on Tuesday and say one is still wanted following an investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs.
The one-month long investigation wrapped up on Tuesday, involving 31-year-old Rickey Hawkins Jr. of Laurel. A search and seizure warrant was executed at his residence in the 28000 block of Seaford Road. He was seen leaving his residence and was taken into custody at the Blades Dollar General. A 5-year-old child was also in the vehicle at the time of the time of the incident. Officials say the child was turned over to a family member.
When officers executed the search warrant at his residence, they located his mother, 53-year-old Kathy Spicer inside. She was also taken into custody.
Police seized the following from the residence:
- Approx. 16.78 grams of cocaine
- Approx. 2.75 grams of crystal methamphetamine
- Approx. .014 grams of heroin
- Approx. 59.55 grams of marijuana
- 7 Busiprone Hydrochloride 25mg pills
- 9 Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride 25mg pills
- 9mm Taurus handgun
- 12 gauge shotgun with a scope
- .50 caliber Connecticut Valley Muzzleloader
- .22 caliber rifle with scope
- Stryker Crossbow and arrows
- Several hundred round of assorted ammunition
- More than $900 in suspected drug money
Hawkins Jr was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 2 quantity, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a tier 3 quantity, possession of a prescription drug not a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held at SCI on $37,100 cash only bond.
Spicer was charged with maintaining a drug property, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. She was later released on $3,600 unsecured bond.
Troopers say they have been unable to find a third suspect, 50-year-old Garry Spicer, who has active warrants for possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, two counts of possession of a deadly weapon by person who also possesses a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
