South takes 2019 Eastern Shore Bowl in shutout fashion
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – The South took home bragging rights for the second consecutive year, defeating the North, 17-0, in the annual Eastern Shore Bowl.
South dominated the action for most of the afternoon.
Wicomico High School running back Stephaun Harris scored from five yards out to open the scoring.
A trick play late in the second quarter proved key to another South score. WiHi quarterback Andre Matthews pitched to Bennett running back Takai Davis, who tossed downfield for WiHi receiver Joshua Shockley. The play led to a 31-yard field goal from Parkside’s Seth Carter.
A hard-earned touchdown run by WiHi runner Ronnie Satchell sealed the victory for the South.
Andre Matthews was named Most Valuable Player of the game.
Kent County linebacker Kolby Walters was named Defensive Most Valuable Player.
During the game, outgoing Bennett Head Coach Hoot Gibson was recognized for his 19 years with the Clippers. Gibson was presented with a ball signed by the players, which was presented to him between the first and second quarters.
