Shelters hosting NYE events for the homeless

SALISBURY, Md. – As 2019 comes to an end, shelters around the area are working hard to make sure the homeless community has a fresh start in 2020.

HALO is hosting their second annual New Year’s Eve mass service on December 31, followed by a New Year’s Eve celebration.

The shelter tells 47 ABC this time of year can be especially hard for the homeless community, with anxiety levels high.

So, they say ending 2019 on a good note and looking forward to new opportunities in 2020 is important.

“Our goal is to kind of have these guys say okay we’ve gone through this year, you have a new year, you have a new opportunity, let’s see what we can do to help you move forward,” Celeste Savage, the Executive Director of HALO, said.

HALO says all are invited to their New Year’s Eve festivities, and that they have a lot planned for the shelter in 2020.
