Santa Cause 5K Fun & Run supports kids dealing with trauma

DEWEY BEACH, Del. – In Dewey Beach, runners from across Delaware’s coast, hit the concrete for the Annual Santa Cause 5K Fun and Run.

The race took place near The Starboard on Sunday.

People of all ages got the chance to dress up in their favorite holiday costumes for a chance to win some prizes.

Proceeds collected during the event will go towards Children & Families First, a local nonprofit that supports children facing abuse and neglect.

Families tell us it is important to give back, especially during the holidays.

“It’s a great cause that raises a lot of money for good charities, so we have fun and enjoy the family aspect of it as well,” said Chris Sherman, a Lewes resident.

Organizers say after the race, festivities continued with music, carnival games and some delicious food.
