PRMC announces precautionary visitation restrictions for flu season

SALISBURY, Md. – Now that flu season is underway on the Eastern Shore, Peninsula Regional Medical Center (PRMC) has announced precautionary visitation restrictions in place to help prevent the spread of the flu virus.

PRMC is asking anyone with a cold, cough, fever, or other flu-like systems to stay home and not visit patients at the hospital. In addition, children under the age of 12 will not be permitted to visit the Special Care Nursery, Pediatrics, surgical floors, and general recovery floors. Siblings under age 12 may visit the Mother-Baby unit after a screening by the patient’s nurse. Children with upper respiratory infections will not be allowed to visit.

This is something PRMC implements every year, and officials with PRMC say that visitation may  be further limited throughout the entire hospital depending on the level of flu activity occurring in the community or within the facility.
