Police K9 finds over 8 pounds of drugs, $22k during traffic stop
HARRINGTON, Del. – Officials are crediting a police K9 for finding more than eight pounds of marijuana and over $22,000 in suspected drug proceeds during a traffic stop in Harrington, Monday night.
Harrington Police say they stopped Emmanuel Williams on South DuPont Highway in the area of Porter Street, around 8:39 a.m. on Monday. A computer check reportedly showed that Williams’ New York license was suspended.
A police K9 responded to the scene and scanned the car. The dog found about 8.48 pounds of marijuana, 1.8 grams of PCP, and drug paraphernalia. Officials also seized two phones, a laptop, the car Williams was driving and over $22,000 in suspected drug money.
The 31-year-old was arrested and taken to the Harrington Police Department for processing.
Williams, a Brentwood, New York resident, is charged with the following:
- Manufacture, deliver or possess with the intent to deliver
- Possession of a controlled substance tier 2 quantity
- Possess or consume a controlled substance
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Driving with a suspended or revoked license
- Driving below the posted speed limit
Williams was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
