Pittsville house fire deemed accidental

PITTSVILLE, Md. — Maryland State Fire Marshals say a house fire in Pittsville Sunday night has been ruled accidental.

Firefighters from the Pittsville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze just after 8:50 PM, at 34277 Warren Road. We’re told it took 15 firefighters exactly 20 minutes to control the fire.

The occupants of the home discovered the fire in their bedroom after a smoke alarm was set off.

Neither of the occupants were injured in the fire. They have been displaced and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Fire officials say the fire was deemed accidental and was possibly caused by a decorative electric window candle.

Fire damage has been estimated at $22,000.
